Definition
下级 (xiàjí) is a general noun for a subordinate person or lower-level unit in an organization. It contrasts with 下属 (xiàshǔ), which is more specific to an individual underling, and 所属 (suǒshǔ), which means 'affiliated with' and is used as an adjective before a noun. 基层 (jīcéng) refers to the grassroots level of an organization, not a person.
