Definition
两性 has three main senses: (1) both sexes or the relationship between male and female (as in 两性关系 'gender relations'); (2) in chemistry, amphoteric (having both acidic and basic properties, as in 两性物质 'amphoteric substance'); (3) bisexuality as a sexual orientation (often in 两性恋). The context — social, scientific, or personal — determines which sense is intended.
