Definition
中场 is a positional word used in sports contexts. In soccer/team sports it refers to the midfield area on the field (the central zone where play often develops). In time-based contexts, it also means the halftime break between two periods of a game. The word behaves like a location noun — it usually follows prepositions like 在 or 到. Be careful: 中场 (midfield/halftime) is different from 半场 (half of a game, e.g. 上半场 'first half').
