Definition
中弹 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to be hit by a bullet'. The verb 中 (zhòng, 'to hit a target') and the noun 弹 (dàn, 'bullet') can split when inserting a result complement or a measure word: 中了一弹 ('was hit by a bullet'), 中过两弹 ('was hit by two bullets'). The subject is the person or thing that gets shot. Do not use 中弹 with an object after it — the bullet is already built into the word.
