Definition
乘 (chéng) is a concise, formal verb for 'to ride / travel by' a vehicle, used in both speech and writing. It is shorter and more formal than 乘坐 (chéngzuò), which is the full, polite form. 搭 (dā) is more colloquial and often implies catching a ride or using public transit casually.
