Definition
乡亲 (xiāng qīn) refers to people from the same rural hometown — either a specific fellow villager or the local community collectively. It carries warmth and nostalgia, unlike 老乡 (lǎo xiāng) which emphasizes a personal bond of trust, or 同胞 (tóng bāo) which means 'compatriot' at the national level. 家乡 (jiā xiāng) is the place itself, not the people.
