Definition
依旧 (yī jiù) means 'still, as before' and is a slightly more formal, written-style adverb than the everyday 仍然 (réng rán). It's interchangeable with 依然 (yī rán) in most contexts, but 依旧 often carries a nuance of 'continuing in the same old way' despite change. 仍旧 (réng jiù) is similar but slightly more colloquial and can also mean 'as before' in a neutral sense.
