Definition
旧 (jiù) describes objects that are used, worn, or no longer new — it does NOT refer to a person's or animal's age. For elderly people (or as a familiar prefix before surnames), use 老 (lǎo) instead. For ancient times, use 古 (gǔ) or 古老.
