Definition
倒台 is a separable verb-object compound (离合词) meaning 'to fall from power' (political) or 'to go bankrupt' (business). The verb 倒 and the object 台 can be split by aspect markers like 了 or 过: 倒了台 ('fell from power'), 倒过台 ('has fallen from power'). You cannot put a direct object after 倒台 — use 使…倒台 or 让…倒台 instead.
