Definition
做伴 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to keep someone company'. The person you accompany is introduced with 跟, 和, or 陪 placed before the whole word: 跟他做伴 ('keep him company'). When you add measure words or modifiers, they go between 做 and 伴 — 做个伴 ('be company'), 做了几天伴 ('was company for a few days'). Unlike 陪伴, 做伴 is more colloquial and often describes informal, everyday accompaniment.
