Definition
停电 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to have a power outage' or 'to cut off the electricity supply'. It can describe both planned power cuts and accidental outages. When adding duration, frequency, or a complement, split it: 停了三个小时的电 ('had a three-hour power outage') or 停过一次电 ('had a power outage once'). The person or location affected usually comes before the verb: 我们小区停电了 ('our neighborhood had a power outage').
