Definition
入伙 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to join a group or scheme'. It has three main uses: joining a business or project (入股合作), participating in a shared meal arrangement at work or school (搭伙), and — in historical or criminal contexts — becoming a member of a bandit gang. The verb 入 and object 伙 can separate: e.g. 入了伙, 入过伙. Note that in modern conversation, 'joining a meal plan' is the most common everyday use.
