Definition
册 (cè) is a formal classifier for volumes of books, especially when part of a multi-volume set (e.g., a dictionary series). In everyday speech, 本 (běn) is the default, general classifier for any book or booklet. 卷 (juǎn or juàn) is older and more literary, used for scrolls or volumes in a historical/classical context.
