农场 (nóng chǎng) is a 'farm' as an organized place or business where crops are grown or animals raised — a farmstead with buildings and operations. It differs from 农田 (nóng tián), which means 'farmland' or cultivated fields, and 牧场 (mù chǎng), a 'ranch' or pasture for grazing animals. Unlike 农村 (nóng cūn, 'rural village'), 农场 is a production unit, not a residential settlement.
