Definition
出院 means 'to be discharged from hospital' — it's the opposite of 住院 (to be hospitalized). Like many Chinese verb-object compounds, 出院 can be split (e.g., 出了院 'was discharged'). Use it when a patient leaves the hospital after treatment.
