Definition
分期 is a verb that usually appears before another verb as an adverbial, indicating that an action is done in separate time segments or batches. It is most commonly seen in the fixed phrase 分期付款 (installment payment), but also works with other verbs like 分期完成 (complete in stages). You cannot use 分期 alone as a standalone verb; it must be followed by a main verb describing what is being spread out.
