Definition
利息 (lì xī) is the monetary interest you earn on savings or pay on a loan. It is different from 利益 (lì yì), which means 'benefit' or 'advantage' in a general sense, and from 利率 (lì lǜ), which is the interest rate (the percentage). Use 利息 for the actual money amount.
