Definition
剔 is a verb whose core idea is 'to remove something unwanted using a pointed tool or by cutting'. You'll most often see it in 剔牙 ('pick teeth'), 剔骨头 ('strip meat off a bone'), or 剔除 ('weed out / remove impurities'). In calligraphy, it's also the name of the 'rising stroke' (㇀), but that's a specialized usage.
