Definition
功 (gōng) means 'meritorious deed' or 'contribution', often in fixed compounds like 立功. It also means 'work' in physics. Compared to 成就 (a major accomplishment) and 成果 (a concrete result), 功 is more general and used in set phrases; 功劳 is similar but emphasizes the credit for a contribution.
