功效 (gōngxiào) refers to the efficacy or effectiveness of a product, medicine, or method — its intended positive function. It is more specific than the general 效果 (xiàoguǒ, 'effect, result'), which can be neutral. Unlike 成效 (chéngxiào, result of effort) or 效率 (xiàolǜ, efficiency), 功效 focuses on inherent power to produce a desired outcome.
