Definition
匹 (pǐ) is a measure word used for horses and other equines (一匹马) and for bolts of cloth (一匹布). When indicating horsepower, 匹 is interchangeable with the more standard unit 马力 (mǎ lì) – for example, 两百马力 is more common than 两百匹. 马力 is the dedicated term for 'horsepower' as a measurement.
