即使如此 is a fixed phrase meaning 'even so' or 'nevertheless'. It connects two contrasting statements, acknowledging a previous point while asserting that the following conclusion still holds. It is similar to 尽管如此 but slightly more formal. Use it at the start of a sentence or clause to introduce a concession.
