Definition
卸 (xiè) is a broad verb for 'unloading' or 'removing' cargo, makeup, or a person from a position. Unlike 脱 (tuō), 卸 is not used for clothing or shoes; use 脱 for that. For cargo/software, the more specific compound 卸载 (xièzài) is common; for leaving an official post, 卸任 (xièrèn) is the standard term.
