历程 (lì chéng) refers to a course or journey with an emphasis on the stages and experiences along the way, often used for historical, personal, or developmental processes. It is more vivid and experiential than the neutral 过程 (guò chéng, 'process') and more focused on the overall path than 进程 (jìn chéng, 'progress').
