Definition
参见 (cān jiàn) has two distinct uses: (1) in writing, it means 'see also, refer to' — it directs the reader to another section or source, similar to 参考 (cān kǎo) 'consult' and 参照 (cān zhào) 'refer to (a standard)'; (2) it means 'pay respects to the deceased or ancestors', a formal act of reverence, distinct from 保佑 (bǎo yòu) 'bless and protect' which is a divine action.
