Definition
反射 (fǎn shè) means 'to reflect' in both literal (light, sound, image) and figurative (mirror a situation) senses. It differs from 反映 (fǎn yìng), which also means 'to reflect' but additionally carries the sense of 'to report' or 'to make known' to a superior. 折射 (zhé shè) is specifically 'to refract' in physics and figuratively 'to reveal a deeper truth' through indirect indication.
