Definition
发表 (fābiǎo) focuses on publicly expressing an opinion, view, or statement — either in speech or writing (发表意见 'express an opinion'; 发表文章 'publish an article'). It differs from 出版 (chūbǎn), which is strictly for books/periodicals, and from 发布 (fābù), which is for officially issuing news or announcements. Use 发表 when the core action is 'voicing' or 'making known' your own thoughts.
