Definition
发车 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning a vehicle (bus, train, car) departs or is dispatched. The verb 发 and the object 车 can split when you add an aspect marker, a measure word, or a duration between them — for example, 发了车 ('has departed'), 发了一趟车 ('dispatched one trip'). You can also specify the vehicle type before or after the compound, like 火车发车 ('the train departs').
