合十 is a Buddhist-influenced gesture of greeting, respect, or thanks — you put your palms together at chest level, fingertips pointing up. It's used in temples, when greeting monks, and sometimes in daily life as a polite, non-contact greeting. The term is semi-formal; the gesture itself is common across East Asian Buddhist cultures.
