Definition
嘈杂 (cáo zá) describes a chaotic mixture of many different sounds at once — a hubbub, like a crowded market or restaurant. Unlike 响 (loud volume) or 吵 (noise from arguing), 嘈杂 focuses on the discordant blend of noises. 喧闹 and 喧哗 are similar but more formal/literary.
