地面 (dì miàn) is the general term for the ground or floor surface, both outdoors (the ground) and indoors (the floor). It is broader than 地板 (dì bǎn), which specifically refers to indoor flooring material (e.g., wood, tile), and more specific than 地 (dì), which can mean land, earth, or ground in a broader sense. For road surfaces, use 路面 (lù miàn); for the outer layer of any object, use 表面 (biǎo miàn).
