Definition
也 (yě) means 'also, too' and is used to add a similar idea to a previous statement, often in the pattern 'A, 也 B' (A, and also B). It is neutral in register and very common in everyday speech. Unlike 还 (hái), which can mean 'also' but also 'still, yet' and often implies addition beyond what's expected, 也 simply indicates that something is the same or included.
