堂兄弟 refers specifically to a male cousin on the father's side — the son of your father's brother. This is a key distinction in Chinese kinship: 堂 cousins (same clan, 同宗) are different from 表 cousins (from the mother's side or father's sister's side). When talking about your paternal uncle's sons, you use 堂兄弟.
