Definition
大局 (dà jú) means 'the overall situation' or 'the big picture', especially when it must be prioritized over individual interests. It is close to 全局 (quán jú), but 大局 carries a stronger sense of strategic importance and is often used in fixed expressions like 顾全大局. 大体 (dà tǐ) as a noun is similar but less common; it is more frequently an adverb meaning 'generally'.
