Definition
夹杂 (jiā zá) means 'to be mixed in with' or 'interspersed with' disparate elements, often implying the added elements are foreign, unwanted, or distinct. Unlike 混合 (blend/mix), which is a neutral combination, and 混 (mix/muddle), which can be indiscriminate, 夹杂 emphasizes heterogeneity and can also mean 'to get entangled in' a situation (e.g., a dispute).
