Definition
如愿 is a separable verb (离合词) literally meaning 'to fulfill one's wish' and is often used adverbially as 'as one wishes'. The object 愿 ('wish') can separate from the verb 如 ('to fulfill') when adding aspect or measure, e.g. 如了愿 ('the wish was fulfilled'). A very common usage is the set phrase 如愿以偿 ('to have one's wish fulfilled'). The gloss 'if willing' in the source is incorrect — 如愿 does not mean 'if willing'.
