Definition
姑且 (gū qiě) means 'for the time being, tentatively', often with a nuance of making a temporary concession or expedient decision. It is more literary and concessive than 暂且 (zàn qiě), which is simply 'for now', and contrasts with the adjective/adverb 暂时 (zàn shí) 'temporary' in terms of time duration.
