Definition
媒介 is a general noun for anything that transmits or mediates — a medium for communication, a vector for disease, or an intermediary in social processes. It is broader than 媒体 (news media) and 中介 (a person/agency acting as an intermediary), and overlaps with 载体 (carrier/vector) in scientific contexts but is less technical.
