Definition
就范 is a formal verb-object compound (离合词) meaning 'to submit' or 'to give in' — usually under pressure or coercion. Because it is a separable verb, the object 范 can be separated from 就 when adding aspect markers, durations, or specifiers: you can say 就了范 ('submitted'), 就不了范 ('cannot submit'). The person or situation to which one submits is introduced by 向 or 对 before the verb.
