Definition
常常 (chángcháng) is the most common, neutral adverb for 'often, frequently' in everyday speech and writing. It is very similar to 经常 (jīngcháng), though 经常 can also be used as an adjective meaning 'regular'. 往往 (wǎngwǎng) is different — it describes what tends to happen in a given situation, not just raw frequency.
