Definition
常识 (cháng shí) refers to practical, everyday knowledge that most people are expected to know — 'common sense'. It is narrower than 知识 (zhī shi), which covers any kind of knowledge (academic, technical, etc.). 常理 (cháng lǐ) is similar but emphasizes generally accepted reasoning and moral principles rather than practical facts.
