Definition
开枪 means 'to fire a gun' or 'to shoot'. It's a separable verb (离合词): the verb 开 and the noun 枪 can be separated when you add a measure word, aspect marker, or complement between them. For example, 开了一枪 ('fired one shot') and 开过枪 ('have shot before'). You can also use it together as a unit: 别开枪 ('Don't shoot').
