Definition
开胃 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to whet the appetite' or 'appetizing'. It can be split into 开 and 胃 with other elements in between, such as 开个胃 (whet the appetite a bit) or 开不了胃 (cannot whet the appetite). In some dialects, it also means 'to amuse oneself at someone's expense' or 'to tease'.
