Definition
归案 (guī àn) is a legal separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to bring a criminal to justice'. It splits when adding aspect or measure words: 归了案 (guī le àn — already brought to justice) or 归过案 (guī guò àn — has been brought to justice before). In a sentence, the criminal usually appears before 归案 via 把 or as the subject in a passive construction.
