当前 (dāngqián) is a formal, often written word for 'current' or 'at present', stronger in official/contextual use than the everyday 现在 (xiànzài). As a verb, it means 'to be faced with' (e.g. a difficulty), similar to 面临 (miànlín) but slightly more static and often used in set phrases.
