Definition
往事 (wǎng shì) refers to past events or former happenings, often with a nostalgic or reflective tone. It is more specific than 以往 (yǐ wǎng 'the past in general') and 往日 (wǎng rì 'former days'), which are broader time references. Unlike 事迹 (shì jì 'deeds, achievements'), 往事 is neutral and not limited to exemplary acts.
