快活 (kuài huo) describes a happy, cheerful state with a carefree, contented feeling — like being pleased with life. It is more colloquial than the standard 愉快 (yú kuài, 'happy') and less tied to festive group joy than 欢乐 (huān lè, 'joyful'). It often appears as a complement after a verb (e.g., 过得很快活).
