Definition
念念 is a reduplicated form of 念 (to think, to read). It functions as an adverb meaning 'constantly in one's thoughts' or 'repeatedly'. It is most commonly used in the set phrase 念念不忘 (to never forget), but can also appear alone to emphasize persistent thinking or repetition. Note that 念念 can also mean 'to read aloud' (as in 念念课文), but the HSK 7 sense focuses on the mental repetition.
