Definition
或许 (huò xǔ) is a slightly more formal or written way to say 'perhaps, maybe' compared to the everyday 也许 (yě xǔ). In casual speech, 也许 is more common; 或许 appears more in writing or when expressing a considered possibility. The single character 或 (huò) can also mean 'perhaps' but is literary and rare in modern speech.
