技能 (jìnéng) is a learned proficiency acquired through training, broader than 技巧 (jìqiǎo 'knack/technique') and less technical than 技术 (jìshù 'technology/technique'). It contrasts with 本领 (běnlǐng), which emphasizes personal capability, and 能力 (nénglì), the general word for ability.
